A&J FAQ

FAQs

What is the itinerary for the weekend?

There will be wedding events Thursday-Saturday. Our big day will be on Friday, December 5th. There are optional events Thursday evening (welcome cocktails) and Saturday afternoon (beach club). We are coordinating the final details for the weekend and will have more to share soon.

What days should I fly in for the celebration?

Guests are encouraged to arrive Wednesday or Thursday afternoon to be part of all of the events.

What is the dress code for the wedding?

The dress code is beach formal. Consider light, airy fabrics suitable for warm, tropical climate and a celebration by the beach.

For the ladies, we want each of you to feel comfortable and elegant, so opt for flowing dresses with natural details. Consider platform heels (not stilettos).

For the gentlemen, we want to capture tropical elegance with a touch of classic style. You can opt for a light suit that evokes freshness. Add a touch of sophistication with accessories.

Will the ceremony reception be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony and reception will be held outdoors.

What airport should I fly into?

Santa Marta’s international airport is Simón Bolívar International Airport (SMR). There aren’t any direct flights from the US, but there are one stop flights from the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and the New York area with reasonably short layovers in Bogota or Panama. Simón Bolívar International Airport (SMR) is 10 minutes from the Pozos Colorados district (where the wedding party will be staying). Uber and local taxis are easily accessible from the airport.

Where is the wedding party staying? Will there be a room block or group rate?

The wedding party will be staying at the Hilton in Pozos Colorados, Santa Marta (see Travel tab on our site). We will follow-up with more details on the group rate soon.

What areas of town should we look into?

The wedding party will be staying in Pozos Colorado. It is a quieter beachfront area with beautiful views, plenty of hotel options, and a more peaceful vibe. It is also ~10-15 minutes away from the airport, the wedding venue, and downtown Santa Marta. Other options –

Centro Histórico (~30 minutes from the airport). It’s busier and farther from the beach, but walkable.

El Rodadero (~25 minutes from the airport) is lively and full of restaurants and nightlife although it can be very touristy.

Is Santa Marta generally safe?

Yes! Like any foreign destination, we recommend standard precautions – but Santa Marta is a lovely coastal town known for its relaxed vibe, friendly locals, and beautiful landscapes. As long as you stay aware of your surroundings, you’ll be able to enjoy all the beauty the city has to offer.

Is Uber available in Santa Marta?
